Beyond the Basics of Nonprofit Development

Advance your organization’s fundraising efforts in this peer-led learning cohort

About the Cohort:

Join a cohort of peers working in nonprofit development in rich discussion and peer-led learning focused on strategy, stewardship and more. In five sessions, co-facilitated by Rebecca Snapp CRFE, Director of Community Engagement with The Salvation Army, and Ellen Hegge, Philanthropy Officer at the Rochester Area Foundation, you will learn about fundraising strategies, stewardship, event planning, major gift cultivation, grant writing, and more. This cohort is designed for nonprofit professionals who are responsible for supporting or leading fundraising efforts. While the content of this program will be more advanced than the basics of fundraising, persons with all degrees of experience in fundraising are encouraged to apply.

This session is limited to 12 people. Applications will be accepted based on fit and a desire for diversity within the cohort.

This opportunity is available at no cost to Rochester Nonprofit Consortium members.

Sessions will be offered on the following days:

Facilitators

Rebecca Snapp has served as the Community Engagement Director for The Salvation Army in Rochester, MN, for the past eight years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and English from Gustavus Adolphus College, she is currently working toward her Master's Degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Development at the University of Northern Iowa, and she received her Certified Fundraising Executive Credential (CFRE) in September of 2022. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and is currently serving on the board of AFP's local chapter. She is also a Leadership Greater Rochester (LGR) alumni, and currently chairs the committee for the annual arts and humanities session of LGR. Her favorite ice cream flavor is butter pecan, and her obsession with plants has reached a new peak since the addition of a cactus planted in a neon blue plastic dinosaur named Bert.

For over 22 years, Ellen Hegge has happily worked within the nonprofit community supporting various impactful programs, through a variety of roles. She has earned an undergraduate degree in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Currently in her role as Philanthropy Officer at Rochester Area Foundation, she works to help donors and partners understand challenges, and bring people together to create effective, collaborative solutions through philanthropy. Rochester Area Foundation puts philanthropy into action for the greatest benefit to Rochester area communities and organizations. Through this work, she has observed firsthand what a single investment of time or resources can do in the life of an individual or an organization.
